Neverglades logs 4: Humans of the Neverglades

In todays log we will discuss the fluffy’s second most common killer. Humans.
But before we do that I would like to explain more of the fluffy’s biology.
The nutrition of the fluffy in the Neverglades is actually quite good. They are omnivores believe it or not. Meat does have some vital vitamins that they require to sustain good nutrition. However, they can have a full vegetarian diet and survive, however, their muscles and digestive system will not be up to par. Fluffy’s from the north tend to have lots of diarrhea, that is what happens if their only food source is just milk or just grass. Grass is low in fiber and nutrients compared to other vegetables so it is no wonder northern feral fluffy’s defecation is mostly liquid. In Florida, they can eat pond apples. A very bitter but still nutritious cousin of the apples we know and love. Fluffies don’t seem to mind the bitter taste, however, that is because they are feral. Pond apples were given to domestic fluffies and they rejected it. As ferals they will make the most out of any flavor. Other fruits they can eat are seagrapes, coconuts, and the thousands of orange, lime, and peach trees left over from the farms. Such trees are now spreading all throughout the Neverglades. As for meat, they have 2 main sources. Other fluffies, foals, and insects. They will munch on the countless grasshoppers, ants, beetles, and any other small arthropod. So I guess fluffies are above at least bugs in the food chain, however there are plenty of insects that can eat them if they have large numbers. With such a balanced diet, mares rarely have stillborns or defective foals! Also these Neverglade fluffy fecal matter is solid. Their rear ends still get covered in the stuff however…
The Neverglades have countless factions that scour the land. Keep in mind fluffies are biologically programmed to love humans unconditionally. Most feral fluffies have never seen a human and yet they still crave their love. Our drones have caught them murmuring to themselves that they want a “hooman huggies.” Humans are practically mythical gods to them at this point. When they do see one, they will become overjoyed and charge towards them asking for “huggies” and “gib upsies.” The human almost always kills them. After a few foul encounters with a human a fluffy will learn to fear us, unfortunately, they can’t seem to teach other fluffies that lesson.
In parenthesis is how their standings are with fluffies, from most friendly to least it goes
Loving-neutral-aggressive-hostile.
Researchers (Neutral): Us, we do not kill fluffies unless required for an experiment or if we are low on food supplies.
Rangers (Aggressive): These are the park Rangers, they are one half invasive species hunter, one half SWAT team. They will kill any python, boar, Nile crocodile, or iguana they come across. As for fluffies, they used to kill on sight, but the fluffy population always seemed to bounce back. They were spending countless dollars on ammo and trying to club a whole herd to death could take hours. And again, the fluffies always bounced back, always. They deemed it pointless unless using them for target practice. Also, they will kill them if bored.

A herd off fluffies are running to them in the distance, feint “huggies” and “upsies” can be heard.
Other Ranger: Yeah dude! Fuckin’ watch. (Now Shouting) HEY FLUFFS, PLAY WITH BALL!
He pulls the pin to the grenade and throws it at the herd. The fluffies shout “yay baww! fank 'ou.” They played with the grenade for only a second before it went off, causing blood, shit, fur, and dead foals to coat the surrounding land. The explosion was followed by the roaring laughter of the Rangers.

Armed with assault rifles and large artillery, the Rangers are also in the Neverglades to stop the Cuban Cartels, Brofluff Cultists, Anarchists, malfunctioning robots, and any other nefarious activity in the Neverglades.

Squatters (Hostile): Not everyone took kindly to evacuate all land south of Lake Okeechobee order. Many demanded to say, and the governor obliged, however, he warned them that there would be no police force or fire fighters to protect them, or corporations to supply jobs. Over the years many Squatters moved back to the inhabited parts of Florida such as the pan handle after life got too rough. Not only that, many Squatters have been killed by the Cartels, Anarchists, and even panthers and black bears. The Fort of Fort Myers was completely destroyed by [Redacted] Man. Which used to be the largest Squatter stronghold. Now they are sparse and no longer live in large communities, instead they live more of a hermit life. Fluffies are their main source of meat. They will hunt them; such a task is easily done with fluffies prancing to them. But they will also construct traps. The most effective is a Comfortfluffy. Think of it like a scarecrow but opposite. It is human effigy that it is made to attract Fluffies. As they approach the comfortfluffy, the fluffies will try to hug it. At the base of the comfortfluffy is a large mouse trap device hidden under pine needles. Such a device can kill 5 fluffies in 1 activation.

A Comfortfluffy is erected in the backyard of an isolated house in a grassland. Around the Comfortfluffy is tan palmfrawns that hide the killing mechanism. There is even a small radio hidden in the chest of the Comfortfluffy playing songs one would hear on Fluffy TV.
A small pack of 5 adult fluffies with 2 mares with foals on their backs happily waddle towards the comfortfluffy shouting “huggies!” They begin to nudge the pants of the comfortfluffy and although metal creaking sounds could be heard, the trap does not activate. Then one of the fluffies begins to jump while singing “upsies!” The jump was just the pressure needed to activate the trap. A rusty screech is heard as the trap activates and 4 mouse trap-like bars swing down around the comfortfluffy. The cheers of the fluffies turn to a quick shriek, a loud crack, followed by some meek crying. 3 of the fluffies died on impact, their scull or chest cavity popped like a pimple. The 2 that survived had their hind ends crushed and their entrails shot out their rear. “Big owwies!!!” They meekly cried as the life in them slowly drained. The Foals that got hit by the bars were completely obliterated. The ones that were not hit were completely unscathed, however, they began to cry about everyone taking the “foweba sweepies.” As shadow then looms over them.
“Sandra! Were havin’ foal stew tonight!”

Cuban Cartels (Hostile): Even after the legalization of marijuana the Cartels did not slow down. They are still quite in business thanks to the ever-growing demand for cocaine, heroin, and opium. The Cartels will make landfall in the Neverglades if the make it past the heavily patrolled Keys Atolls. They even have some bases the Rangers can’t take out unless they get military assistance. The Cartels will actively lure fluffies into their bases. They will put signs featuring happy looking humans with arrows pointing at the base. The fluffies will gladly follow the signs. Once lured into the base the Cartel henchmen will slaughter them for food.
Anarchists (Loving to Hostile): True to the definition of their namesake, they have no set rules or governance, and most anarchist groups have no relation to one another. You’ll have the ones who come to the Neverglades to abuse its low surveillance to torture and murder Squatters, other anarchists, and any other poor human that gets in their way. They will of course have their way with any and all fluffies. Then you’ll have the more hippie kind who just want to have a nice little commune away from corporations. These are usually very loving to the fluffies, most wont even hunt them with the amount of vegans they have. However, these communes don’t last long due to attacks from the Cartels, other anarchists, [Redacted] Man, and even large animal attacks. We’ve even witnessed a massive pack of coyotes kill an entire commune.
Brofluff Cult (Loving): This all male cult worships some sort of female equine pantheon. Part of their religion is to be subservient to all fluffies. They will come to the Neverglades and build small fluffly sized homes. They will cook countless spaghetti for the fluffies. They will protect the fluffies, even going as far as killing any human who dare hurts a fluffy. However, do note they will… mate… with a mare they call their “fluffu.” They will also breed fluffies in hopes of reincarnating the “Daughters of the Goddesses.” The Rangers will keep a close eye on them, if they make any aggressive move towards other humans the Rangers will rout them.
Pirates (Hostile): Basically anarchists that patrol the seas. They will commonly go ashore to restock on fluffies unless the find a drifting boat full of fluffies.
Fathers of Freeport (Hostile): Please remember, when I write “hostile” I only mean to fluffies, these men are actually very kind. The name of their faction was dubbed by me, they are simply Bahaman refugees searching for food. After sea level rise the Bahaman government disbanded, taking the upper class with them to live in Florida’s panhandle. The rest of the civilians were left to fend for themselves. Food is now critically short over in the Bahamas. What little land is left can’t grow food and the coral reefs have been overfished to depletion. However, some savvy fisherman have learned about the fluffy situation in Florida. They sail over to the east coast and collect a hulls worth of fluffies to take back to the remnants of their starving country. This particular group I was monitoring always stocks up at an atoll building at Hallandale Reef. This building is completely surrounded by water and somehow stuffed to the gills with fluffies on all dry floors. I was even able to intercept and question the captain of the fishing boat.

Researcher: So what brought you to Hallandale Reef?
Captain: The reefs ova’ by Miami have too many pirates scoutin’ the seas. But here it is close enough to Seminole Territory dat da pirates shy away.
Researcher: Has the Seminoles have any qualms with you?
Captain: Nah, dey know we mean no harm. We take only the fluffy ones. Dey seem to not care fo’ them.
Researcher: Are you afraid this building will run out of fluffies?
Captain: (Laughs) No, no, no. Dees tings have many many babs’. If anyting we be doing them a favor and stoppin’ them from ending up like our own home.
Researcher: Have any of your men gotten hurt trying to farm these fluffies?
Captain: Yes, a greenhorn died. The floors of dis building be covered in shit. Poor greenhorn slipped and fell down stairs.
Researcher: I see, have you encountered [Redacted] Man?
Captain: Oh no lord Jesus, nonono! We be going now, good day!
Researcher: But…
Captain: Our hulls are full, and you reminded me of why our people can’t immigrate here, goodbye! And may lord Jesus protect your soul, science man who pokes tings dat need not be pokin’!

Seminole Tribe (Neutral): A very powerful faction on par with the Rangers when it comes to control in the Neverglades. With the rising waters the Seminoles have lost lots of their ancestral lands and the USA did not grant them any more territory. However, they adapted. Their crowing hotel, the Hard Rock Hotel was a casino and hotel that is shaped like a giant guitar. Now that it is surrounded by water, they modified it to work also as a yacht club and dock. They even built an underwater hotel near it. People from all over the world fly in to West Palm Beach to take a cruise to their establishment. They also rule the area with an iron fist, killing any pirates, cultists, Cartel, or any other undesirables that try to make a footing in their territory. To fluffies, they are indifferent. See them as nothing more as a pest. They will kill any feral fluffy that is found in the halls of their hotels. But for any fluffy roaming the marshes of their territory, they know culling won’t really solve anything, so they let nature take its course. They also breed fluffies for desirable colors and will even have Fluffy Shows where breeders exhibit their fluffy show-pony.
Fighters For Florida (Or the FFF) (Neutral to Hostile): With the right permits and go aheads from government bodies, civilians can enter the Neverglades. The FFF is a hunting force of civilians that is organized to hunt invasive species such as pythons, Nile crocs, and any other invasive threat. However, ones hunting for pythons and such do not target fluffies because they know it will make no difference and their reserve ammo is better spent fighting any human threat that tries to harm them. That being said, some… questionably moraled FFF hunters that call themselves “abusers” come to the Neverglades to only torture fluffies to death. Since fluffies are labeled as invasive animals “to be removed by any means necessary” the abusers are 100% in legal right to… “hunt” fluffies in any way they want.
That about covers the humans of the Neverglades. Now we shall talk about native fluffavores, aka native animals that can eat adult fluffies.
The Black Bear: This animal is an omnivore in which 80% of their diet was vegetation. Not anymore, now their primary food source is fluffies. Because they are easier to hunt then to forage for fruits. If a heard of Fluffies spots one, they will usually shout and panic and try to quickly waddle away. The Black Bear will make chase and usually eat the one that trips, or it will swipe at the slowest one and kill it. Black Bears can even take out a nest by themselves. Even if the fluffies try to hide in a burrow the bears can dig down to them, but they usually go after easier fluffy prey. Black Bears in human ruins have learned that pushing open doors or breaking into boxes, cars, trash cans, and other containers have a good chance of revealing a hiding fluffy. Also note, fluffies also tend to think ALL land animals fear the water like them and will rush into shallow water to escape the black bear. They will then tease the bear, until the bear effortlessly charges into the water and kills them.
Panthers: We have talked about the general hunting habits of the panther in log 1, however I’d like to add on the habits of an alpha male panther. Alphas will patrol a large territory and basically kill any animal it does not want in its territory including other male panthers. One alpha has been documented killing 125 fluffies in a mega herd. It only ate 2.
Florida Gar: This fish can grow up to 3 meters in length. It used to be a very rare sight this far south in Florida after overfishing from humans. Now, they have made ma huge comeback thanks to the Neverglades low human population and fluffies as a food source. Unlike smaller gar or bass, these fish can eat an adult fluffy. They will glide into the shallows and scoop up a fluffy wading through the water and then use its serpentine body to slither back into the depth all while the fluffy begs to be let go. If the initial bite does not kill it that is.
Raptors: Hawks, Eagles, Osprey, Falcons and any large bird that hunts with talons. The red shouldered hawk is very common predator of the skies. “Wingie munstah” as they are called by fluffies are common throughout all habitats and thus Raptors have the largest kill count of fluffies if you don’t count humans. Our camera drones must always use its cloaking device not only to not spook the fluffies, but to hide from raptors.

A Red Shouldered Hawk sits on a tall cypress branch as it spots a herd of fluffies waddling into the dried cypress dome. “Fluffy so thiwsty… need some wawas…” They then come across a puddle and joyously begin to drink. That is when the hawk makes its move. It glides down under the branches and before the fluffies can even cry out in warning. The hawk snatches up a small adult fluffy, as it flies the fluffy shits on everything below. The hawk waits for it to stop shitting and carries him up to a branch. All fluffies scatter in fear but one, the victim fluffies mate and her foals. “Wingie munstah! Pwease gib speshuw fwend back!” The foals also cry for their mother’s mate. The hawk then lands on a branch and holds the fluffy down with one talon that has dug into his flesh. The hawk begins to peck at the fluffy’s side and the fluffy begins to cry out “biggest owwies!” The hawk rips out the fluffy’s liver, then a kidney, then more chunks of flesh until the fluffy dies of organ failure. Stated, the hawk then pushes the fluffy off the branch. Its corpse hits multiple branches on the way down until it lands and the mare and her foals begin to cry at his corpse. The mare then is snatched up by a bald eagle and the cycle repeats.
The video then shows a clip of two ospreys fighting over a filly midair. It should be noted that not all Raptors kill fluffies by consumption, sometimes they simply drop them. The osprey continue to fight until they drop the filly into the brackish water below. She screams and shouts until she drowns and disappears under the tea-like waters of the estuary.
The video then shows a clip of a bald eagle migrating high in the air. The fluffy it is carrying then shits so hard it startles the eagle and it drops it. The video zooms in as the fluffy splats on the abandoned parking lot below.

Alligators: These ancient predators are a fluffy’s worst nightmare because it is a “wawa munsta” that can exit the water and kill them. It is immensely rare for an alligator to hunt on land. They are almost entirely ambush predators, laying low in the water, hidden until a land animal needs to take a drink so it can immediately bite the prey’s head and pull it into the water. Such a perfect strategy is why alligators have been relatively unchanged since the time of dinosaurs. Such a strategy is perfect to eat fluffies, to no surprise. However, why wait? Alligators will leave the water, charge at a herd and scoop up one that did not run away in time. If they see trapped fluffies, they can devour multiple.

There is a large abandoned Olympic sized swimming pool that has essentially turned into a marsh. Ten fluffies have entered the pool on the shallow end where sediment pile up from draining rainwater has made a ramp. They waddle to the diving well of the pool which has become a small pond within itself. The fluffies begin to drink from the pondwater and a massive alligator from the kiddie pool scurries into the pool marsh. The fluffies finally see her but it is too late. The walls of the pool got them trapped and the alligator blocks the only way out. The alligator slowly gets them to back up into the corner of the pool as they meekly cry and whine and shit. She lunges forward and bites one, then a second, then another! She shallows 3 fluffies down as they scream and defecate. The rest of the herd use this time to escape. However, more alligators enter the marsh pool as their cries altered the whole waterpark.
A new video clip starts to show off how some mares will sacrifice foals to save themselves.
A mare is cornered in a sewer as a 50cm juvenile alligator hisses and harasses the mare. The foal on her back shouts “Mummah! make wawa munsta go 'way!” She lets out a sad cry “Am sowwy bestes' babbeh.” And drops the foal on the ground, the alligator scoops it up as the mare escapes.

Seagulls: Alone they can eat a foal, but a flock can peck a lone adult to death and eat small chunks of them.
Those are all the native fluffavores we have for today. Next log we will talk about defective robots that are scattered throughout the Neverglades. And how their glitched programming makes them a threat to fluffies… unless their programming was to kill them in the first place. Then they are not glitched.

Accessing all the Vancouver Bridges

Update notes: finished adding all the bridges, added a link to photos. I will try to format everything to be a bit nicer and/or make a copy at another location that allows for easienicer formatting.
As requested by raleighspritely in the other bridges thread, this post is intended to help generally newer riders figure out specifically how to get onto each bridge in each direction, where all most of the exit options go and any other weirdnesses each bridge may have.
I'll assume you know roughly where you are and roughly how to get to each bridge. Some are easy to find the entrances for (Burrard), some are weird (Cambie, southbound) and some have entrances a long way from where the cars access (Golden Ears) so if they're super weird I'll try and give you more specifics.

And now to talking about crossing bridges!
Granville - follow the instructions for Burrard or Cambie
If you insist on using the GSB (don't) SB access is easiest via Howe St and NB access at 5th & Granville
Burrard
Easiest to get onto IMO as the access is right at the ends of the bridge
Cambie
Going southbound on Cambie is super weird to get to unless you're already on Nelson St
Lion's Gate
North Bound:
South Bound:
Second Narrows/IronworkersThis is one of the weirdest/awkwardest, particularly at the north end
North Bound:
South Bound
Access is here basically across from Phibbs. Many ways to get to it, but you've gotta get to that spot to go south.
Exiting: takes you down through the trees, watch for the pair of switchbacks. You'll end up at the bottom of Skeena St.
Arthur Laing
I regard this as an "experts only" type bridge that I wouldn't recommend to anyone not comfortable with riding in fairly close proximity to cars. There's no separated lane and just a narrow shoulder. That said, I don't feel unsafe on this bridge for some reason, but that might just be from riding it a bunch and being used to riding next to cars. Anyways, onto how to get on/off:
Southbound: access is via the car ramp at where Marine & Granville all come together in a 6 lane clusterfuck that was meant to be the highway through Vancouver. Normally I access coming off NW Marine, onto the clusterfuck, pick up speed down the hill and (with a lot of shoulder checking) get across the right most lane onto the ramp. Go up the ramp and stick to the right.
Exiting: things get dicey/exciting. You'll be crossing roads at speed so be shoulder checking.
North Bound: you can either access off the paths off Airport Rd here or by riding north along Russ Baker Way and basically sticking right and following the signs to Vancouver.
Exiting: again a bit dicey with some potential lane crossing
Pitt River
This is one of the nicest crossings. All the recently built (or updated) bridges are really, really nice once you're on the deck (Pitt River, Port Mann, Golden Ears + Ironworkers post update).
The cycle/pedestrian lane is on the north side of the span and is nice and wide. Access on the west end requires crossing Belfast Ave/Fremont Connector that loops under the bridge. Since access is all for the one side crossing my instructions are written for West->East travel but basically just do them in reverse for East->West.
Coming from NW (Trabouley Poco Trail/Deboville Slough), you do a couple zigzags and hairpins and crossing Belfast St but you can see your target the whole time so this bridge is honestly one of the easiest to get onto.
Coming from the SW, you go under the bridge parallel to the Fremont Connector then see the access to your left. If you were to keep going on the path instead you'd eventually end up at Deboville Slough.
East end of the bridge drops you in Pitt Meadows. As you exit (eastbound) you can immediately do 180deg turn left to get onto the trails. Another left at the river to go south, north and you can make your way out to Pitt Lake on the trails. To access the trail parallel to, and on the south side of, Lougheed Highway take the left at the river then left again at Ferryslip Rd.
If you go straight Old Dewdney Trunk Rd is a pretty nice ride towards Maple Ridge.
Golden Ears
Alright, this one is possibly the most difficult unless you know exactly where to go, partly because they're a long way along the bridge from where cars access. The Southbound Access is at 113B & Airport Way (Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows). The northbound access is at 100A Ave & 201St (Langley)

Access is at 100A Ave & 201St. You go up the multilevel round ramp. Your exit will basically be the aforementioned 113B roundabout, you can go straight through it to get onto Maple Meadows Way towards the mall, right will change into 203St as it turns north or go left and west towards the airport.
Canada Line Bridge
This one is on the side of the Canada Line bridge section between Marine & Cambie Station & Bridgeport Station.
North connection is on Kent Ave S @ Cambie. However you have to go east from Kent Ave N & Cambie to turn south to get onto Kent Ave S and access the ramp. If you're coming down Cambie, hang a right on Kent Ave N.
South Connection is at River Road and Van Horne Way.
If you're going North then east, my recommendation is take Cambie north, then cut east at 59th. Kent Ave N between Cambie and Ontario sucks butt and cars are frequently impatient assholes on that section (it's also rough, needs a repave and has a lot of rail tracks).
If you're going north then west you can go west on Kent Ave N and then right on Heather before climbing a bit and taking the westbound route of your choice.
If you're just going north then Cambie, Ontario & Heather are all pretty good choices with Ontario & Heather being quieter. I can't remember how all of Heather's crossings are since I haven't ridden it past 59th in years.
If you're going South, you can go:

Port Mann
This one is like the Pitt River Bridge in that the pedestrian/bike path is only on the north/east side of the bridge deck.
West access is where the Port Mann passes over United Boulevard and where Unite intersects the Mary Hill Bypass offramps. If you're coming off the bridge you can go south/west on United and eventually work your way over towards Braid Station. If you go east on the Mary Hill Bypass you can connect to the Traboulay PoCo trail, Argue St and work your way up to the Pitt River bridge. There's also a mess of trails in and around Colony Farm but you're on your own for that :)
East access is a ways up a pretty decent hill at 152st/112Ave by Dogwood Campgrounds. If you're going north/west, the signage is good. Just don't take the overpass over the highway. How you get to 152/112...up to you. It's a big grid!
Alex Fraser
Ok, this one is another bit of a mess in terms of access. I don't think this one is technically unidirectional like the others, but I recommend riding the same way as cars are travelling and this guide will be based on that. Careful on the deck, there's a bunch of spots where you have to dodge the bases of signs and other spots where the path just shifts left/right.
Southbound:
You've made it over the Queensborough or come in from Richmond. You've made it onto the Annacis Channel bridge and are approaching Annacis island. You'll see a bus-stop on an island, you want to get there (if not busy, drop the curb & cut across, otherwise there's a crosswalk to use), take the crosswalk that goes parallel to the bus-only section of intersection, onto the sidewalk on the far-far side and then left and you'll see the path onto the bridge. You'll get dropped off with the choice of left or right. Left takes you towards HWY17, River Rd which are the two options for getting to the ferry (take River, it's quieter and only marginally slower). Right will take you under the bridge, and after you go past Planet Ice you can go left towards River Rd east, right-then-right to get onto Nordel north/east or just right for the Delta-South Surrey Greenway.
If you're trying to get to South Surrey, go as if you're going up Nordel, get over the overpass, then take the trail that cuts back to the right. This is the North Delta Greenway and is superior to the DSS Greenway in basically every way including being WAY smoother (I ride it on my carbon road bike on 25mm tires).
North Bound:
Starting from Planet Ice, take the path up onto the bridge, ride across, question why you're out here and didn't just take the Massey Shuttle to get home faster...
At the north end of the bridge, you'll end up next to the Annacis exit ramp. At the end of it, you want to take the small crosswalk onto the island with the bus stop, across Cliveden ave onto the island on the far side, then across another little crosswalk onto the path and hang a left. Stick to this path, you'll go back over the Annacis Channel and find yourself at a zig-zagging ramp. At the bottom of that you have the options of:hard right: path through to Hamilton Highway Park where you can take an overpass towards River Rd
left then right: onto Boundary Rd then Dyke rd, you can use this to get over towards Westminster Highway via Fraserwood Way.
left then left (generally recommended): take Boundary Rd north. At Boundary & Boyd you can go right to the Queensborough or left onto Westminster Hwy which you can use to get all the way to Richmond or to connect to River Rd
Queensborough
because New West is at a 45deg angle I'll be using "up/down and top/bottom" for this bridge because it's effectively a hill. Top is 22nd St station end, bottom is Queensborough Landing.
The top connection is just below 22nd St Station. If you're coming from 22nd St station just take the bridge down, it'll drop you on Boyd St. Left takes you to QB Landing. Right takes you to...not a lot. It's narrow, you'll probably have to slow down a bunch as you pass people.
If you're coming from Market Crossing area or New West (both via Marine Dr) I recommend taking the "up" side of the bridge down because it has about 1% of the traffic the "down" side does.
To get to it, the access is the ramp on the "cars up" side of the bridge. Otherwise, you can use the ramp on the "cars down" side to connect to the "down" side.
Either way as you're going down, watch for the hairpins at the bottom!
If you're going up and heading to downtown New West take the "up" side. Head east along Marine/Stewardson. You can eventually head right down a side street to get to S&O because that's why you're in New West right? If not, you're at S&O now. Best way to get through to the rest of downtown is via the Quay.
If you're going up and heading to anywhere else take the "down" side and go all the way to 22nd St Station. Right and past the station connects to 7th Ave across New West. Left you can use to get onto both Marine Dr or Marine Way to go west to Market Crossing, Big Bend, Glenlyon, River District. Straight turns into the BC Parkway and travels under the skytrain past Edmonds, Royal Oak, Metrotown stations.
Knight St
Recommendation: if you can, keep going west and take the Canada Line Bridge. This bridge was NOT intended for cyclists at all as you're about to learn and this section may get a little rant-y.
Northbound:
Southbound (I haven't gone SB on this bridge in a long time)
Access is via the onramp at Inverness & Marine. If crossing SB on Inverness watch for cars not understanding how stoplights work and driving into the intersection.
Take the on-ramp, hop onto the sidewalk.
First exit is Mitchell Island, get across the island. Get back onto the sidewalk.
Second exit is Bridgeport and provided you take that off-ramp you'll end on a sidewalk on Bridgeport pointed west. First intersection will be Sweden Way, turn left for IKEA, right takes you up to Vulcan Way which can be used to connect to River, No5 & No6 Rds.
Opinion: the KSB needs a cycling infrastructure update more than the GSB. The GSB is bad, but at least Cambie and Burrard are basically adjacent.
Oak St Bridge
Disclaimer: I have ridden across this bridge exactly once, only north bound on the southbound side. I will provide links to where I think the access to the NB path is, but I can't guarantee it.
This accesses I used for this bridge are near enough to the Canada Line Bridge so I would recommend just using that. Also the access Oak St Bridge are all off bigger roads so just awkward to get to.

Once you're on the bridge it's just ride along until you're at the other end. The surface is weird concrete sections that have all gone a bit convex so it's a weird kinda bumpy ride.

Fun fact: Tonight marks Phish's first performance at the Mohegan Sun Arena which also just squeaks past St. Louis' Chaifetz Arena as the smallest venue of the tour with a capacity of 10,000.

Blood money DLC concept

The Blood Money Dlc concept is a concept based upon our character being recruited into a small mercenary organization and eventually being able to create our own, this concept will include multiple new features listed below.
Introduction
As los Santos slowly becomes more dangerous with highly organized criminal efforts ranging from drug rings to mass heisters the government of los santos has decided to use a new method to try and control the rising issue, to combat the issue they decided to hire a independent mercenary group to hunt down and kill multiple criminal rings to help stabilize thier city
Characters intro
For our characters this new motion wasn't brought to our attention untill after we started reading about deaths of criminals on the newspaper, it then became a suddenly real reality when we got a phone call from a unknown number the call was short but got the point across " we know what you've done but we're willing to swipe the slate clean if interested go to foreclosure" we find out more about the story after we get to a new mercenary HQ
Locations
There are multiple mercenary HQs listed on foreclosure to choose from each have there own advantages and disadvantages such as location and surroundings
1) Sandy recycling center- located near the back of the scrap yard among all the debris and wreaks a small shack garage was made to cover a new merc base ( map change shack made into garage )
2) grapeseed abandoned house- located across from the grapeseed 24/7 store ( map change needs garage door already has main door)
3) paleto bay construction house- located on the beach front road there is a house and garage under construction ( map change remove construction)
4) la Mesa warehouse- located near the fridgit cold storage on the north side there is a small warehouse with double doors ( map change need boxes removed )
5) cypress flats- located on chum st a old semi warehouse ( map changes none )
6) LSIA - located behind big house storage road follows behind ( map change need garage door and door )
7) la puerta- located at helicopter landing off shank st at Higgins helitour ( map change none)
8) Pacific bluffs- located inside crastenburg parking garage ( map change needs door)
Mercenary HQ tour
The Mercenary HQ comes with multiple upgrades to choose from as well as some new rooms that come upon purchase
Command center - the main center of life within your HQ where you will be able to access the databases on different crime rings as well as organize and launch raids ( more in story) the command center will have a few different color options to change it to your liking
Living quarters- the living quarters are a purchasable upgrade allowing you to choose the mercenary HQ as a spawn point, the living quarters will have a few decorations you can buy such as weapons, tools paintings you can have along with a color scheme
Garages - The mercenary comes with two garages automatically the first being a small six car garage on the main level, the second is a arsenal garage that can store the new drone ( more later) along with a few smaller and one large weaponized vehicle in addition you can purchase two extra 12 car garages on lower levels of the HQ
Armory - The armory is a purchasable upgrade that adds a new room to your HQ bringing multiple features, within the room itself will be a Mk2 upgrade table as well as a gun locker also included in the room is a new weapon expert who has started up shop within the armory selling new weapons and attachments ( more later)
Shooting range - The shooting range is a small upgrade located in the back of the HQ that adds a small shooting range to practice shooting and to help upgrade your stats
Gym- upon purchase of the gym you will receive a treadmill, and other gym equipment unlocking small mini games within the gym, the gym also bring a new feature making your character muscular the more minigames you play the more muscle you get over time but if you end up getting too jacked there is a hot tub you can rest in to help decrease your muscle mass
Story Introduction
The story begins when we first arrive at our new HQ we are greeted at the front door by a slightly muscular man he reaches out and shakes your hand Introducing himself as Jax before opening the door and leading us down a flight of stairs, once at the bottom he gives us a tour of a in construction HQ as he walks through he explains which room would be constructed into what as long as we have the cash to fund it, he then turns and swings open a pair of double doors revealing a team of people setting up monitors and and computers, jax then turns around saying welcome to the command center but before we start were gonna need you to go collect our files from the old base this then triggered a set up mission to retrieve mule outside different buildings depending which base you choose.
Post set up intro
Upon delivering the documents back to the HQ jax will be waiting for you in the garage with a small team of unloaders, once you exit he puts his hand on your shoulder and lead you down a corridor on the way jax is explaining the first operation while leading you towards the command center along the way your character gets distracted by a muffled scream coming from a slightly ajared door when your character peeks in there is a vagos member strapped to the chair immediately after jax closes the door and finishes leading us to the command center, once there we see that the center board is fully sorted out displaying the vago crime family, once seated jax starts breaking down all the information they currently have about the vagos cocaine distribution ring and how they have been tasked with bringing down multiple crime rings and they were to start with the vagos.
Crime ring info
There are multiple crime rings that you can choose ranging from small rings to large the larger rings have a larger payout but have a longer cool down once they are completed to prevent from only spamming one ring
The rings are as stated
The vagos crime family ( cocaine distribution) The ballas ( lsd distribution) The families/ grove street ( weed distribution) The Chinese ( counterfeit ring ) The Texans ( illegal arms ring ) The O'Neil brothers ( meth distribution) Russian crime family ( prostitution ring) The lost MC ( export ring )
Each crime ring will have it's only process for taking them down from raids to set ups and each and every one will give you some small choices to make as to how you would like to go after them similar to the casino heist for example say you are raiding the the vagos to seize informants you could have three different options you could go loud which is a swat like entry through the front door, or you could break in silently in the dead of night where a slip up could cause it to go loud or you could set them up which lures them away from thier territory causing them to be more exposed but causes there to be more enemies to fight
Operation process
Each operation will have it's own process for taking down the criminal rings but they all are based on the same principle, destabilizing thier hierarchy to prevent reconstruction of the rings this can be achieved by doing set ups, the set ups differ upon the crime rings ranging from interrogating low level members, investigating crime scenes, infiltrating deals, and stealing rival information, as you proceed to gather information you start to unlock the next tier in the hierarchy once you unlock the next tier you will unlock a mission at the command center, the missions will differ on the level of hierarchy as well as the ring some will be destruction of distribution, sabotaging shipments, leaking information, assassinations of hierarchy among many others
Top dog hit
After dismantling the hierarchy you will eventually be able to take out the kingpin of the operation, each kingpin will have thier own unique final mission based upon the ring they are managing some will require you to kill them straight out while others may require to set up the king pin to post the blame on another ring to avoid alarming the other rings.
Completion of rings
Upon completion of different crime rings you will receive different rewards along with rewards for first time completion like extra money, each crime ring has a unique first time completion regarding the type of ring it is for example upon completion of the vagos ring you will receive a cash reward a first time cash reward along with a free resupply for the according ring expect for the export ring it will reward you with a collection for import/export, the first time bonuses other then money are rewarded for hosting the end job but if you are a tag along you will still get the first time money reward. After the completion of the ring you will be able to restart it again to get more cash however each ring will have a cool down period between being able to start it again depending on the payout price for taking down the ring to promote doing other rings.
Armory
The armory in the HQ is special with its purchase you unlock a new weapon expert named maverick he will be the main seller of all new weapon attachments and weapon based accessories for your character
New weapons
Taser - the long await taser comes as a new weapon available to buy in both ammunition and the armory used to subdue both targets for interrogation as well as players
M16- a newly imported weapon featured within the army by maverick the M16 is a three bullet burst assault rifle compatible with most attachments
M1 grand- shortly after your first frontation with maverick you will receive a email discussing about a old rifle that he would be able to put together if we find all the pieces within this message it reveal our first location upon collecting the first peice we will get clues for the others
Zipties- a new "weapon" that will allow you to restrain a npc to help for transport within mission but if you can combine both the taser and zipties together you can restrain a players hands behind their back denying them access to their weapon wheel however they can still run and jump and enter vehicles however they cant steer, the restrained player can escape by button mashing.
Grapple - the grapple is a new specialty weapon designed to help sniper reach higher ground, the grapple will be store in the heavy weapon category, while aiming the weapon the scope will have ethier a X or a O the X means that the grapple is unable to make a rapple point if it is a O it will create the rapple point however once you reach the top or you die the rapple disappears
Weapon attachments
When the mercenaries arrived in los Santos so did their contacts bringing in new attachments and features for a variety of weapons
Fast mags- a new purchasable upgrade that increases your reload time as well as changes the style of your magazine ( available for purchase on assault rifles)
Bipod - a new upgrade that helps with stability and movement speed while using your sniper ( available for all sniper rifles * marksmen not included*
Underbarrel gernande launcher - the mercenary special the underbarrel gernande launcher is available for purchase on your ar making it into a effective weapon against both ground and vehicle targets ( available on all assault rifles * will replace the throw option while aiming as well as have to purchase ammo* as well as replaced grips )
Laser - a cosmetic upgrade that allows you to attachment a laser onto your side rail in replacement of your flashlight * activates by flashlight button*
Foregrip - a improved straight underbarrel grip that slightly improved weapon accuracy and handling
Shotgun chokes - a shotgun modifications that tightens the spread radius of the shell ( may be restricted depending on selected shell)
Inventory item/drone
When the mercenaries came to los santos from wherever they came from they brought a new scouting toy with then the suav
After launch the suav will have a ability that can be used while flying
Stock- while the drone is stock you can use it to fly around to provide information to your teammate but it will not have any special effects
Support- after marking targets they will proceed to be marked by a red outline 20 seconds after marker has left drone ( only visable to marker)
Radar- after use enemies that have been marked will show up on radar for 20 seconds or up to a minute depending if opponent is ghost or off radar
When the suav is crashed it will have a effect on the target it crashes into depending on the different tips it has been equipped with
Crash upgrades
Kinetic - causes shock wave upon impact
Emp- disabled vehicle upon impact
Gas - release a cloud of toxic gas upon impact
Range upgrade
One of the upgrades for the drone is a range extender to help provide for those longer scouting missions
The drone is purchasable for warstock and is automatically stored in the mercenary HQ

When the mercenaries arrived in Los santos so did their styles
Tattoos- the tattoo stores started offering new patriotic tattoos featuring flag tattoos as well as this consisting on eagles guns and bullets
Scars - the ability to get scars for your character will available in a new section of the hairdresser's, you will be able to get scars for face, chest, legs, back and arms these will only be for cosmetics
Hairstyle and beards - the hairstylers are now offering new form of hairstyles ranging from wastelander( over grown/ unkept), pony tails, shaved, and a buzz cut you will also be able to get different beards ranging from a trimmed beard to have a large homeless beard for those long unkept missions

Blood money DLC concept

The Blood Money Dlc concept is a concept based upon our character being recruited into a small mercenary organization and eventually being able to create our own, this concept will include multiple new features listed below.
Introduction
As los Santos slowly becomes more dangerous with highly organized criminal efforts ranging from drug rings to mass heisters the government of los santos has decided to use a new method to try and control the rising issue, to combat the issue they decided to hire a independent mercenary group to hunt down and kill multiple criminal rings to help stabilize thier city
Characters intro
For our characters this new motion wasn't brought to our attention untill after we started reading about deaths of criminals on the newspaper, it then became a suddenly real reality when we got a phone call from a unknown number the call was short but got the point across " we know what you've done but we're willing to swipe the slate clean if interested go to foreclosure" we find out more about the story after we get to a new mercenary HQ
Locations
There are multiple mercenary HQs listed on foreclosure to choose from each have there own advantages and disadvantages such as location and surroundings
1) Sandy recycling center- located near the back of the scrap yard among all the debris and wreaks a small shack garage was made to cover a new merc base ( map change shack made into garage )
2) grapeseed abandoned house- located across from the grapeseed 24/7 store ( map change needs garage door already has main door)
3) paleto bay construction house- located on the beach front road there is a house and garage under construction ( map change remove construction)
4) la Mesa warehouse- located near the fridgit cold storage on the north side there is a small warehouse with double doors ( map change need boxes removed )
5) cypress flats- located on chum st a old semi warehouse ( map changes none )
6) LSIA - located behind big house storage road follows behind ( map change need garage door and door )
7) la puerta- located at helicopter landing off shank st at Higgins helitour ( map change none)
8) Pacific bluffs- located inside crastenburg parking garage ( map change needs door)
Mercenary HQ tour
The Mercenary HQ comes with multiple upgrades to choose from as well as some new rooms that come upon purchase
Command center - the main center of life within your HQ where you will be able to access the databases on different crime rings as well as organize and launch raids ( more in story) the command center will have a few different color options to change it to your liking
Living quarters- the living quarters are a purchasable upgrade allowing you to choose the mercenary HQ as a spawn point, the living quarters will have a few decorations you can buy such as weapons, tools paintings you can have along with a color scheme
Garages - The mercenary comes with two garages automatically the first being a small six car garage on the main level, the second is a arsenal garage that can store the new drone ( more later) along with a few smaller and one large weaponized vehicle in addition you can purchase two extra 12 car garages on lower levels of the HQ
Armory - The armory is a purchasable upgrade that adds a new room to your HQ bringing multiple features, within the room itself will be a Mk2 upgrade table as well as a gun locker also included in the room is a new weapon expert who has started up shop within the armory selling new weapons and attachments ( more later)
Shooting range - The shooting range is a small upgrade located in the back of the HQ that adds a small shooting range to practice shooting and to help upgrade your stats
Gym- upon purchase of the gym you will receive a treadmill, and other gym equipment unlocking small mini games within the gym, the gym also bring a new feature making your character muscular the more minigames you play the more muscle you get over time but if you end up getting too jacked there is a hot tub you can rest in to help decrease your muscle mass
Story Introduction
The story begins when we first arrive at our new HQ we are greeted at the front door by a slightly muscular man he reaches out and shakes your hand Introducing himself as Jax before opening the door and leading us down a flight of stairs, once at the bottom he gives us a tour of a in construction HQ as he walks through he explains which room would be constructed into what as long as we have the cash to fund it, he then turns and swings open a pair of double doors revealing a team of people setting up monitors and and computers, jax then turns around saying welcome to the command center but before we start were gonna need you to go collect our files from the old base this then triggered a set up mission to retrieve mule outside different buildings depending which base you choose.
Post set up intro
Upon delivering the documents back to the HQ jax will be waiting for you in the garage with a small team of unloaders, once you exit he puts his hand on your shoulder and lead you down a corridor on the way jax is explaining the first operation while leading you towards the command center along the way your character gets distracted by a muffled scream coming from a slightly ajared door when your character peeks in there is a vagos member strapped to the chair immediately after jax closes the door and finishes leading us to the command center, once there we see that the center board is fully sorted out displaying the vago crime family, once seated jax starts breaking down all the information they currently have about the vagos cocaine distribution ring and how they have been tasked with bringing down multiple crime rings and they were to start with the vagos.
Crime ring info
There are multiple crime rings that you can choose ranging from small rings to large the larger rings have a larger payout but have a longer cool down once they are completed to prevent from only spamming one ring
The rings are as stated
The vagos crime family ( cocaine distribution) The ballas ( lsd distribution) The families/ grove street ( weed distribution) The Chinese ( counterfeit ring ) The Texans ( illegal arms ring ) The O'Neil brothers ( meth distribution) Russian crime family ( prostitution ring) The lost MC ( export ring )
Each crime ring will have it's only process for taking them down from raids to set ups and each and every one will give you some small choices to make as to how you would like to go after them similar to the casino heist for example say you are raiding the the vagos to seize informants you could have three different options you could go loud which is a swat like entry through the front door, or you could break in silently in the dead of night where a slip up could cause it to go loud or you could set them up which lures them away from thier territory causing them to be more exposed but causes there to be more enemies to fight
Operation process
Each operation will have it's own process for taking down the criminal rings but they all are based on the same principle, destabilizing thier hierarchy to prevent reconstruction of the rings this can be achieved by doing set ups, the set ups differ upon the crime rings ranging from interrogating low level members, investigating crime scenes, infiltrating deals, and stealing rival information, as you proceed to gather information you start to unlock the next tier in the hierarchy once you unlock the next tier you will unlock a mission at the command center, the missions will differ on the level of hierarchy as well as the ring some will be destruction of distribution, sabotaging shipments, leaking information, assassinations of hierarchy among many others
Top dog hit
After dismantling the hierarchy you will eventually be able to take out the kingpin of the operation, each kingpin will have thier own unique final mission based upon the ring they are managing some will require you to kill them straight out while others may require to set up the king pin to post the blame on another ring to avoid alarming the other rings.
Completion of rings
Upon completion of different crime rings you will receive different rewards along with rewards for first time completion like extra money, each crime ring has a unique first time completion regarding the type of ring it is for example upon completion of the vagos ring you will receive a cash reward a first time cash reward along with a free resupply for the according ring expect for the export ring it will reward you with a collection for import/export, the first time bonuses other then money are rewarded for hosting the end job but if you are a tag along you will still get the first time money reward. After the completion of the ring you will be able to restart it again to get more cash however each ring will have a cool down period between being able to start it again depending on the payout price for taking down the ring to promote doing other rings.
Armory
The armory in the HQ is special with its purchase you unlock a new weapon expert named maverick he will be the main seller of all new weapon attachments and weapon based accessories for your character
New weapons
Taser - the long await taser comes as a new weapon available to buy in both ammunition and the armory used to subdue both targets for interrogation as well as players
M16- a newly imported weapon featured within the army by maverick the M16 is a three bullet burst assault rifle compatible with most attachments
M1 grand- shortly after your first frontation with maverick you will receive a email discussing about a old rifle that he would be able to put together if we find all the pieces within this message it reveal our first location upon collecting the first peice we will get clues for the others
Zipties- a new "weapon" that will allow you to restrain a npc to help for transport within mission but if you can combine both the taser and zipties together you can restrain a players hands behind their back denying them access to their weapon wheel however they can still run and jump and enter vehicles however they cant steer, the restrained player can escape by button mashing.
Grapple - the grapple is a new specialty weapon designed to help sniper reach higher ground, the grapple will be store in the heavy weapon category, while aiming the weapon the scope will have ethier a X or a O the X means that the grapple is unable to make a rapple point if it is a O it will create the rapple point however once you reach the top or you die the rapple disappears

Fast mags- a new purchasable upgrade that increases your reload time as well as changes the style of your magazine ( available for purchase on assault rifles)
Bipod - a new upgrade that helps with stability and movement speed while using your sniper ( available for all sniper rifles * marksmen not included*
Underbarrel gernande launcher - the mercenary special the underbarrel gernande launcher is available for purchase on your ar making it into a effective weapon against both ground and vehicle targets ( available on all assault rifles * will replace the throw option while aiming as well as have to purchase ammo* as well as replaced grips )

Radar- after use enemies that have been marked will show up on radar for 20 seconds or up to a minute depending if opponent is ghost or off radar
When the suav is crashed it will have a effect on the target it crashes into depending on the different tips it has been equipped with

Kinetic - causes shock wave upon impact
Emp- disabled vehicle upon impact
Gas - release a cloud of toxic gas upon impact
Range upgrade
One of the upgrades for the drone is a range extender to help provide for those longer scouting missions

When the suav is crashed it will have a effect on the target it crashes into depending on the different tips it has been equipped with

Kinetic - causes shock wave upon impact
Emp- disabled vehicle upon impact
Gas - release a cloud of toxic gas upon impact
Range upgrade
One of the upgrades for the drone is a range extender to help provide for those longer scouting missions
